Walk in the woods.....

You know you are getting old when you get excited about going on a new National Trust walk!!! That was me today. Am I old or is that just another joyous side effect of lockdown? Maybe a bit of both. But it was soooo good to get out and about. We went to a new part of woodland in the Surrey Hills and even managed to dodge the rain. This followed on from this morning when I read an article in the Wall Street Journal. It said…. “Spending time in the woods—a practice the Japanese call “forest bathing”—is strongly linked to lower blood pressure, heart rate and stress hormones and decreased anxiety, depression and fatigue”.

Such an interesting read. It has inspired me to find new walks, get the kids to connect with nature more and just get out and breathe in that fresh air as much as we can. I am sure that we are all a bit worried about our kids lack of exercise and mental health at the minute so this is a positive step in the right direction. Two hours a week is easy during half term so we are certainly going to make the most of it! Enjoy your week.
